I like iboats prop finder tool and they have great info on 3 vs 4 blades.  http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/

4 blades is good for getting heavy or under powered boats on plane. I was able to get my 15hp motor on my 12' aluminum to plane w/ 4 guys by switching to a 4 blade and dropping some pitch.

Oh and remember if you for 4 blade from 3 drop to in pitch is the general rule...
