Stumbled across 'Planer Boards' in my latest Cabela's catalogue.  In the description they talk about being able to run your rigging as much as 150 feet away from the boat.

My imagination immediately flashed to trolling on the Columbia, Willamette and coastal rivers where a rod length can often be too wide a pattern to avoid other boats (sometimes referred to as 'combat fishing') when the bite is on.  Just imagine the fun you could have running a 300 foot wide pattern.   :hoboy:

Boggles one's mind....

Now, combining those planer boards with the glass encrusted strings used in kite fighting, you could really clear a path for trolling.

Just kidding.

SC16 Yamaha 4s 90
SP17 Honda 4s 90  - Croaker made me do it. :)

I have a few Midwestern ones that go on line. If I remeber I will bring one down later. Planning to build one big one (looks like polynesian canoe) for September coho if I have a bunch of people in the boat.
Had a glorious SR19 Finnesse.
You can not change the length of your life, but boating does increase its width and depth.

Grizzle

I saw an episode of Babe Winklemans show where they were fishing on the great lakes with a version of those.  The orange ones in the Cabelas catalog, otter boats maybe?  Looked pretty cool especially for both shy trout
